Our Story

Colada Shop was born from a love of the Cuban coffee tradition. We opened our first storefront in 2016 with the goal of spreading the Cuban coffee and social tradition to the DC community. Colada has since expanded to multiple stores in the DMV area, serving as a gathering space for good, food, coffee, cocktails and conversation. We have since expanded to Colada Shop offers retail versions of some of our guest's favorites on our menu so that everyone can bring home a taste of Cuba and help spread the #coladalove!

Meet Daniella
Founder & CEO

"I started Colada Shop in 2016 to share the vibrant flavors and colors of the Caribbean with Washingtonians.

It’s been a long and exciting journey. My love for food and hospitality began at the early age of 13 when I founded a successful catering business from my home in Dominican Republic. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, I've had the pleasure of cooking for some of the greatest chefs in the country, and leading some incredible restaurants.

As an immigrant, I am proud to call Washington my home, but I couldn’t find a place that combined my love of good food, coffee, cocktails and social interactions – and so I created Colada Shop.

Years later, I’m still finding ways to share the #coladalove with you all.

So come on in! Slow down for a moment and reach for a cup. Stay for a snack. Order a drink.

I hope that you enjoy!"
